Melanated Legacy: Preserving Cultural Heritage
Once known as one of the most prosperous Black communities in America, the historic Greenwood District in Tulsa, widely known as Black Wall Street,
was a thriving center of Black excellence, entrepreneurship, culture, and economic success before the devastating 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre destroyed homes, businesses, and generations of wealth. Despite this tragedy, the spirit and resilience of Greenwood continue to inspire communities around the world.
We are dedicated to preserve this powerful history by creating meaningful experiences that honor the legacy of Black Wall Street while empowering future generations through knowledge, culture, and community connection.
Our Journey
Melanated Legacy Tours was created from a deep passion for preserving Black history and creating meaningful experiences that educate, inspire, and connect our community. Founded by a CEO who comes from a proud Black business legacy rooted in Oklahoma City, this journey is deeply personal and built on generations of entrepreneurship, resilience, and community leadership. What started as a desire to learn more about the legacy of Black Wall Street became a mission to share these powerful stories with others in a way that is authentic, impactful, and unforgettable. Through these tours, we aim to honor the strength and excellence of those who came before us while inspiring future generations to take pride in our history, culture, and accomplishments.
